Helping Clients Feel Motivated in Their Fitness Journey for Over 15 Years!
Jonathan has spent nearly 2 decades working in the fitness industry, breaking away from flashy, and inconsistent claims of “getting ripped quick” or “losing 50lbs in one month”.

"I pride myself on helping my clients make healthier choices. I lead by example, so they understand a healthy lifestyle is not only achievable, but also enjoyable."
-Jonathan

Meet Your Trainer

As an elite certified coach who holds certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), and Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC), Jonathan provides exceptional one-on-one support.
His journey into physical fitness began at a young age as he explored dance, figure skating, tennis, track & field, and Pilates, just to name a few. As a former competitive swimmer, he competed against Olympic swimmers Michael Phelps, Aaron Peirsol, and Brendan Hansen back in 2005. Jonathan’s dedication to fitness and health is and has been unwavering for nearly 20 years.

Jonathan’s integrated coaching style adopts a holistic approach to training, considering all aspects of health and wellness. He believes that training is most effective when the mind, body, and spirit are all working in sync. That has been his focal point while building fitness programs for his clients since 2008.
His clientele is diverse, ranging from athletes to individuals in post-rehabilitation, and those managing medical conditions, such as diabetes, ALS, nerve damage, and cancer. His ability to work effectively with these clients stems from his personal experience. Diagnosed with epilepsy in 2010, Jonathan underwent a journey of over 40 different medications before having a Responsive Neurostimulator (RNS) implanted in his brain in 2023 to manage his seizures. Now he wants to show others how an effective fitness program can be key to improving quality of life.

Despite his disability, Jonathan has never allowed epilepsy to dictate his life. He is a firm believer in enhancing one’s lifestyle through a combination of exercise, recovery, nutrition, and attitude. And that’s the belief he instills in his clients and practices in his daily life.

Outside of coaching and exercising, Jonathan enjoys traveling with his wife, a good cup of coffee, and quality time with his dog Cocoa.

Jonathan was exposed to various physical activities from a young age and participated in sports such as ballet, jazz, figure skating, tennis, Pilates, yoga, and swimming.

After a few years and competitive wins, Jonathan competed in the US Open Swim Meet, where he faced Olympic swimmers Michael Phelps, Brendan Hansen, and Aaron Peirsol.

After earning his first personal trainer certification, Jonathan then started attending fitness conferences annually. He mainly focused on rehab and corrective exercise lectures, and gained valuable insights into the latest research and industry best practices.

Mastin Fitness Pauses Operations
2022
Jonathan conquers epilepsy.
In 2023, he underwent intensive treatment for epilepsy, including three brain surgeries to implant a Responsive Neurostimulator (RNS). The device detects abnormal brain activity, and it helps control his seizures, so Jonathan can continue to focus on what he loves.

Jonathan joins the Miami Swimming Club team and starts swimming competitively. By then, he had decided that swimming was his favorite sport, and he began competing in 50/100 frees, 100 fly, and relays.

Jonathan became a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and also received specializations in Advanced Healthcare and Fitness Specialists. He also got certified as a Weight Management Specialist from ACE (American Council on Exercise).

Mastin Fitness officially opened its doors.
In October 2011, Jonathan decided to make his own business official and incorporated Mastin Fitness, offering clients premier training services.

Due to some unforeseen health complications, Jonathan made the difficult decision to temporarily close Mastin Fitness to focus on his epilepsy and family.

Mastin Fitness reopens.
The career break proved highly beneficial, allowing him to re-certify as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Jonathan then relaunched Mastin Fitness, shifting his focus to online training programs, all while earning two more certifications from NASM.

Going forward, Jonathan continues to help clients across the country make healthier choices for brighter tomorrows!
